Rabies Crisis Leads to Pets' Euthanasia and Vaccines for People

An unfortunate series of events is occurring in Missouri due to dogs not being vaccinated against the rabies virus. Several dogs, including a litter of puppies, have been euthanized. 32 people, including some children, have had to undergo post-exposure treatment. These unfortunate events had to occur because a puppy developed rabies after exposure to his mom who had probably helped another dog kill rabid skunks. The dogs had not been previously vaccinated against rabies.
Rabies is a preventable disease. Vaccinate all your dogs and cats immediately and get booster vaccines at the frequency your veterinarian recommends.
